Serious Answers only - preferrably from an Human Resources Administrator or someone who hires people often.?

I have a 5 month gap in my employment history. It's due to a lay off and lack of adequate work in my city. HOW can I appropriately reflect this on my resume?

Thank you!

you just did.or you can tell them that after your layoff you had some money put away as a cushion so that you could take your time to find the right job.It would show me first that you are a thinker and a planner, that you are good with your finances, and most of all that you are not desparate for the job,so you must be talking to me because this job must be what you really want to do.i have hired alot of people in my life and i will tell you that we dont hardly ever check your backround or care about your personal life, half of the questions we ask are just to see the reaction we get from you.Like when i tell someone at a second interview "weve completed the criminal backround check mr.smith...is there anything youd like to talk about?"and then sit back and let them confess to every thing theyve ever done.it a good trick and saves money on backround checks.this is what gets you hired..#1does she seem like shes got the skills to do the job? #2 will she fit in with the rest of the crew? and #3 does she seem like she would do a good job.if you got those 3 thing going for you youve probably got the job.Knowlege is the key because most employers really dont want to waste time training someone who doesnt look like a fit or a flight risk.it costs to train and as a manager it would be my job to keep those training costs down to a mimimum.i hope this helps.

exactly the way it happened...once ur UP for an interview u can explain

I would not agree with ccs...while i am no expert...the resume cant be taken lightly...it is the first impression and you being called for an interview can depend on it....so while i dont have the answer to your question, i feel you are correct in wanting to reflect this well on your resume.
