Volunteering - an attempt to strengthen high school resume!?

Me:

16/Sophomore

3.9 GPA/H - behind in math (taking algebra) and didn't take a foreign language last year (S1 now).

Why: I haven't done any clubs (school is financially limited) nor participated in e.c activities, though I did win some writing festival and other little things..if that counts.

My point is: I want to volunteer. I'm solely looking for the most college-appeasing activities here, but I don't know where to start. YMCA? Senior Center?? Where do I go and how do I sign up/approach?

I'm not really passionate about anything unless it involves women or film, but I'm prepared to do what needs to be done to get into my chosen school

Mom was suggesting fundraisers, since you meet wealthy people and can make connections. while others suggest more humanitarin causes...like animal shelter and all that crap.

Help me yahoo! I want to go to Northwestern/USC/UCLA/Brown/ or NYU. : )

well i volunteer at my church - doing different things ( help at functions, alter serve ...)

i know u said u dont have a lot of clubs but if u have a KEY CLUB that would b a good club because they have higher variations of that club in college ( kiwanis)
um just volunteering shouldnt b becuase u HAVE 2! u should want 2 volunteer so try to find something that u like to do!

Go for the humanitarian groups, senior citizen centers and homes, hospitals shelters etc.

Try to have some group in which you have a leadership position such as president.

You are on the right track. Do not get derailed.
